The only news we had about the boys last year was the announcement of a series of shows in some cities of the UK, including Moscow and Istanbul, perhaps as a sort of warm-up for what was about to come.

All that time of silence resulted in Wild Beasts’ fourth album Present Tense, an album far from its predecessor. This time they questioned themselves, evolving as human beings and musicians, having real life experiences. Tom Fleming says: “you’ve got to kind of live in the world to have anything to say about it,” demonstrating you can get inspired from about anything and not just heartbreaks.

“Wanderlust” was premiered last Tuesday along with a video. “I guess it’s a song about escapism,” explained Hayden Thorpe on The Evening Show with Danielle Perry, “and how the capacity of your own head is worth far more than anything money can buy […] there’s nothing more expansive in your own head if you sensitize and see the beauty in things.”

Relying more on electronic in this album but holding on to their seductive and beautiful songwriting, Wild Beasts return with a statement and a new batch of songs next February.

Catch them on tour and pre-order Present Tense through Domino Records.
