Melbourne’s own The Ocean Party have created the perfect anthem for 20-somethings around Australia (if not, the world) in the form of their new single Quarter Life Crisis.
Fresh off their recently released LP ‘Split’, Quarter Life Crisis laments about the vicious cycle that slacker young adults face every week. Working monotonous jobs, wasted weekends, sleeping with anons and the inevitable post-night-out regrets. Riddled with catchy pop hooks, clean guitar riffs and the distinctly Australian drone of Curtis Wakeling.
The vibe of the track is encapsulated perfectly by the supporting video. Directed by Matthew Crib, the formula for the video was simple: invite a whole bunch of pals over to The Ocean Party’s house, provide an ample supply of bevvies and film the results. The final result is an entertaining, funny and undeniably charming side-dish to the single.
Split is available through Spunk Records.
