The Italian post-punk trio, Soviet Soviet is about to release their debut full-length album on Felte records, and the second single, “Together”, hit our playlist this week.
The band formed in 2008 and has been refining their sound over these past 5 years, releasing several EPs along the way. “Together” gives us a taste of what we can expect from the new album. A tightly wound rhythm section opens the track, setting the tone. By the time the razor-like guitars and dark, echo-heavy vocals kick in, you’re hooked and ready to go on this dark ride. The song reminds me a lot of Wire, but I can also hear influences of Joy Division and PiL, with its bass and drum heavy backbone, dark lyrics and droning vocals.
Fate is set for release on November 11. Check out the first two tracks from the album on the band’s Bandcamp page. You can also pre-order the album via Felte Sounds or on iTunes. Follow the band on Facebook and Twitter.
