One can always trust record label Bella Union to bring forward some of the most promising acts out there. Newest gem from the London-based label is snowbird, a duo consisting of Cocteau Twins’ and Bella Union’s own Simon Raymonde and singer/songwriter Stephanie Dosen.
The first track to be released from their upcoming album, the mesmerizing Porcelain, sounds just as delicate as the title implies. After a gorgeous piano intro, Dosen’s elflike vocal arrangements has an almost entrancing effect on the listener. Even if the sound inevitably has a lot in common with Cocteau Twins, Stephanie Dosen is definitely the main attraction of snowbird.
Their debut full length album ”moon” is due early 2014 and contains a few intriguing collaborations. Amongst others, Radiohead members Ed O’Brien and Phil Selway as well as Midlake’s Eric Pulido and McKenzie Smith have lent their musical talent to snowbird.
Listen to Porcelain below and mark the date as this might be one of the more interesting releases in the new year. Moon is released on Bella Union in January 2014.
