Preparing for their debut LP release on August 20 via Dovecote Records, NYC bred Ski Lodge share a new video for “Boy”.
Since forming in 2011 the Brooklyn four-piece have caught quite an attention with their self-titled EP and a spot at this year’s SXSW Music Festival. The band’s upbeat surf-pop melodies effortlessly cover up the dark matters that possess Andrew Marr’s head. No wonder he is the main force of Ski Lodge and has written all of the lyrics and music on the album. The sheer melancholy of Marr’s lyrics and his singing style is rather reminiscent of Morrissey and you can hear a lot of influence from The Smiths in his songs, whereas the sun-soaked melodies are a nod to The Drums and Best Coast. Boy is an excellent example of this combo and embraces the playfulness of the light and the dark. Check out the trippy video below.
