Montreal shoegazer No Joy are about to release a brand new Ep on November 5th to launch their upcoming European tour. After the worldwide acclaimed second LP Wait To Pleasure, the all female duo is coming back with Pastel And Pass Out: a three song 12″ that seems to adopts the typical harsh sound they’re most famous for.

Last Boss, first song of the Ep, is an overwhelming wave of fuzzy guitar drones lying on martial drums patterns. As usual, Jasamine’s echoing voice fits perfectly with the track’s atmosphere, giving the impression of a reverberated and dreamy fuzzpop assault.

Under the surface of a standard shoegazing tune, the structure is composed of three different movements, leading the listener through intangible and amorphous soundscapes. The ethereal sound of this song suddenly smashes against a wall of distorted guitars and powerful kick’n’snare beats: the background murmur explodes into a stellar cascade of buzzes and drones.

Last Boss is a good example of what we should expect from this upcoming EP. If you’d like to catch them live, you can find the entire European tour schedule here. Meanwhile it’s nice to drown into these noisy pop spirals.
