Angelic female trio, Mountain Man, hasn’t given us much since their 2010 album Made The Harbor, which makes the new cover they’ve just released all the sweeter.
Their eerie and soft hymnal arrangements where born when Molly Erin Sarle, Alexandra Sauser-Monnig and Amelia Randall Meath met in college in Vermont. Since then they’ve toured with The Decemberists & Jonsi as well as Feist, providing her a harmonious, fitting backdrop.
Their cover of John Denver‘s “Around And Around” remains true to their minimal style – predominantly a cappella with sparse guitar quietly peppered in. The blended crooning is soft and sentimental. Their gentle rendition of Devner’s lyrics like “Minutes into days turn into months turn into years”, make it an appropriate listen as 2013 draws to a close.
Currently, there’s no word on a new album, though we really hope there will be soon.
