Black Mountain-members Joshua Wells’ and Amber Webber’s side project Lightning Dust started as an outlet for their softer musical ambitions which wouldn’t fit into the concept of Black Mountain.
The project has already resulted in three albums and the third LP, Fantasy, was just released on Jagjaguwar. On the track Loaded Gun, Webbers’ voice is in focus and from time to time it almost sounds strikingly close to another brilliant female singer, The Knife’s Karin Dreijer. The accompanying video for the song plays with the dark and disturbing sound of the duo and compliments the naked sound of Webber’s aching voice by its intriguing imagery.
