Take a tour through the new track from Kevin Morby’s upcoming album. Woods bassist and frontman of The Babies, has his solo debut due out in November on Woodsist.
Until then, we’ve received a little something to hold us over with “Miles, Miles, Miles”. Appropriately named, the track covers a lot of ground, switching time and tempo several times throughout, from jaunty to drowsy and back again.
What could be easily distracting is anything but, instead musically solidifying this track as a journey. “If you knew just how far I’d traveled” is Morby’s mantra throughout. Delivered steadily yet sleepily, and at times with a little sadness, the listener knows they’re being told of both a physical expedition as well as personal and internal travels.
Look out for the full album, Harlem River, on November 26. In the meantime, Morby can be found playing with Woods in Big Sur, California as part of the annual Woodsist Fest, September 22-23.
