Watch Glasgow duo Honeyblood‘s video for debut single “Bud” and recall the sunny days of summer while you wade through another rainy autumn.

I’ve always been very partial to bands from Glasgow. Maybe it’s because I have a soft spot for the city itself, but when I read that a band is from there, I will always give them a good listen. And to my great pleasure, Honeyblood did not disappoint.

Honeyblood formed early last year, but they have already established themselves on the lively Glasgow scene, as well as the Gimme Indie playlist of course. Citing PJ Harvey, The Breeders, and Throwing Muses as influences, guitarist Stina Tweeddale and drummer Shona McVicar play jangly pop songs with sparkling melodies and strong, harmonic vocals. It’s surprising that they can create such a full sound with such a spare setup. And it’s completely enticing. They’ve certainly brought a bit of warmth to an otherwise dreary October and I’m looking forward to their debut LP, which I hear is in the works already.

You can order a limited edition pink vinyl 7″ with “Bud”/”Kissing on You” from Fatcat Records. Follow Honeyblood on Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr.
