The Hackney-based trio Factory Floor has been a name on anybody’s and everybody’s lips since their first tracks came out in 2009. Debut full length is out today!
Four years and a number of EPs later, the wait is over. Factory Floor’s self-titled album is out on DFA Records today. Singer and guitarist Nik Colk Void, drummer Gabe Gurnsey and synth player Dominic Butler allegedly produce their dark electronic beats on the same vintage desks as were being used for some of the early-day Eurythmics songs. Even though a great deal of their beats flirt with the 80s, this album takes you straight to a modern-day dirty warehouse party somewhere in London.
In the fantastic minimal opening track “Turn it up” Factory Floor asks “What is a good way to start?”. Well, some Monday afternoon advice, if you kick off your week by listening to Factory Floor, Friday will feel an awful lot closer.
