Copenhagen-based The Great Dictators explore the power of dreams in their video for Sleep.

Sleep is not just some time for your body to rest, it’s also the time when we get to watch our own personal movies a.k.a. dreams and the Danish alternative rock seven-piece The Great Dictators understand this concept quite well. Whenever I want you / Whenever I need you / All I have to do is sleep sings the frontman Dragut Lugalzagosi suggesting that he can access his desired woman in his dreams and, although there’s nothing wrong with that, the real problems begin when he is starting to lose his grip between dreams and reality.

The Great Dictators have already earned impressive comparisons with The National, Tindersticks and even Leonard Cohen, but Lugalzagosi’s voice also bears a slight resemblance to Charlie Fink (Noah and the Whale). The band has been active since 2011, has already released three EPs and is now working on their long-anticipated full-length LP Liars, which will be out in February 2014. You can also check out their latest offering Dive – a minute and a half long acoustic tune to be found on the album as well.
