The “Screaming Eagle of Soul”, Charles Bradley, brings a new depth to Black Sabbath’s ballad, “Changes”, in his new cover.

Bradley was discovered during his time as a James Brown impersonator, performing under the name “Black Velvet.” Between his two albums on Daptone Records as well as the 2012 documentary Soul of America, Bradley serves as an excellent introduction into the resurgence of soul in America.

Bradley has taken Black Sabbath’s slow, piano ballad “Changes” and given it a more lively swing with the help of the The Budos Band. Bradley’s vocals are rich and raspy, introducing a new fullness to the track. Despite its upbeat instrumentals, you’ll feel Bradley’s woeful lyrics way down in your soul.
