Filled with hypnotic sitars and 60s folk-rock beats, The Limiñanas third record Costa Blanca is out today via Trouble in Mind.

With a singular mixture of English, Italian and (of course) French lyrics, Lio and Marie Limiñana assembled a patchwork of psychedelic sonorities, blinking at some of their favored artists from the sitxies (Jefferson Airplane, Os Mutantes, Velvet Underground).

The entire album is a slow journey into the French duo landscapes: the Gainsbourg-like spoken poetry meets the lysergic pop structures, finding the way to a strange kind of revival.

My Black Sabbath, second track on the record, is a good sample of what they worked on. A circular bass line, running on a constant tambourine beat, sustains the delicate voice of Marie Limiñana: all served in an unique blend of freaky sitar riffs and celestial voices.

Compared to the previous releases, this record left behind the garage influences of the past, playing with the echo of certain woodstock stereotypes. This album is a descent to a weak-lighted basement full of old vinyls.
