Boston-based Quilt shares a new video for “Arctic Shark”, a taste of the crystallized, mystical psych sounds we can expect from their 2014 album.

The video, directed by Merideth Hillbrand and Brandon Andrew, is bright and simple. Much like Quilt‘s sound, it’s a mishmash of imagery and activity – the band sits atop a pile of blankets, sometimes playing, sometimes laying, often interacting with other objects in a seemingly nonsensical way. A feeling of being ever so slightly off-kilter slowly creeps in, though. It’s not dreamy or dizzying, but leaves you feeling unbalanced or dazed in a most pleasant way, fitting for Anna Rochinski’s repeating lyric of “form becoming weightless”.

“Arctic Shark” is a track from Held in Splendor. Look for the full album from Mexican Summer on January 28, 2014. Until then, catch Quilt on tour this month.
