With the release of Cut Yourself Free this week, Wymond Miles is two albums and an EP into a solo career in addition to being a member of a successful indie rock quartet.

Miles is the guitarist of San Francisco’s garage rockers, The Fresh & Onlys. Last year, he released an album and an EP of solo material he had been working on for several years. He is back this year with another full-length album, set for release this week.

The first single, “Passion Plays”, was released ahead of the album a few weeks ago and was added to our playlist back in September. The song strays from the more straightforward rock sound of The Fresh & Onlys, giving us an atmospheric post-punk song that starts out quietly with Miles’ warbly voice and jangly guitar setting the melancholy mood. The track quickly builds in intensity, thanks to a tight, aggressive, propulsive rhythm section.

Cut Yourself Free will be out on October 15th via Sacred Bones records. The album is available for pre-order at iTunes and Amazon. Look for it streaming on Spotify this week and get a preview now on Soundcloud.
