Gritty garage rock infused with post-punk musings and fluid melodies. All that and more is encapsulated by three letters.
Based in Melbourne, ESC are a new blip on the radar with the launch of their debut and self-titled EP last week. Recorded, mixed and mastered by Nick Hoar, the 5-track EP is an interesting concoction of raw post-punk laced with dreamy harmonies. A personal favourite off the EP would have to be the debut single Atomic Shadow. The accompanying video for this track is also killer. Hidden in dark shadows, the band members’ silhouettes are only visible by the distant flash of brightly coloured lights which makes for a truly captivating visage.
With their own unique flair, this quartet will make you think twice every time you hit the “esc” key on your keyboard from now on.
