With the anticipated debut album Spacehopper ready for release next week, Tripwires give us a little taste of what’s to come with the video for their latest single, “Shimmer”.
It’s a reverb-heavy, shoegazey, swirling indie rock anthem that plays perfectly with a quiet-loud dynamic and singer Rhys Edwards’ Britpop croon. In my opinion it’s the standout track on the upcoming album, harking back to the mid-90s without pandering to nostalgia. I feel they’ve given it a memorable sound of its own, despite making me reminisce about my (somewhat awkward) teenage years!
Spacehopper is out on 17 June, through the always awesome indie label Frenchkiss Records (home of Les Savy Fav, Local Natives, and Passion Pit).
If you’re in London on June 20, catch Tripwires live at the Camden Barfly and celebrate the release of their record!
